Ningú et coneix, oh amic; els nous temps s’han allunyat molt del plàcid encís de Grècia, sense pregària i sense déus, el poble camina dejú en la polseguera. Però per a la secreta munió dels entranyables devots, als qui Déu colpí l’ànima amb enyor, per a ells ressonen encara avui les cançons de la teva divina arpa. Amb anhel, fatigats del dia, ens adrecem a l’ambrosíaca nit dels teus cants, les ales onejants dels quals ens fan ombra amb somnis daurats.
