by Henrik Hertz (1797 - 1870)

Ved nattetid
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Læg dig kun ned og sov kun trygt!
Som Nattevagt jeg sidder.
Sovel, sov sødt og uden Frygt!
Jeg er din Uskylds Ridder.
Vel tænker du., saavidt jeg troer,
Ei paa mig Dagen over;
Men Drømmens Verden er saa stor -
Tænk paa mig, mens du sover.

Blandt hine Billeder, hvis Skræk
Bor Sjæl om Natten ryster,
Maaskee mit Billeds kjendte Træk
I Drømmens Angst dig trøster.
Hold fast min Haand - jeg veed, at Sligt
Du ellers aldrig vover.
Men Drømmens Land er stort og rigt -
Saa gjør det, mens du sover.
