Bølgernes Sang

    Evigt fremad,
    Hen over Havet,
    Ud imod Grænsen,
    Som stedse viger;
    Ud mod de flygtende
    Æventyr-Riger,
    Hvor Solen aldrig
    Gaar ned.
 
Der skal sidde en Mand paa den hvide Bred,
Som aldrig har løjet, ej mindste Kende,
Hans Ansigt lyser, hans Øjne brænde,
Han slog dem aldrig for nogen ned.
Han stjal ej af andres, han kunde nøjes
Med lidet, selv i de trange Dage,
Han kendte ej Alder, han kunde ej bøjes,
Han faldt ej for Smiger, han stod ej af Trods,
Han higed bestandig, gik aldrig tilbage. --
Vi aned, vi øjned hans Slægt med os.
 
    Vi prajed en Fisker,
    Som drev for Vejret;
    Hej, Fisker, sig os,
    hvor ham vi finder!
    Fiskeren tørred
    de skumvaade Kinder:
    Véd ej, var aldrig
    saa langt!
