Ochse, wie bist du so stattlich, bedachtsam, fleißig und nützlich!
Wahrlich, ich brauche dich sehr - aber du bist doch ein Ochs!

Ho da! Kartoffeln und ihr, ökonomische Knollengewächse,
schreiten kaum kann man; gemach! macht euch nicht gar zu sehr breit!

Grüß' dich, Klatschrose und Gänseblum', Butterblum', ländliches Völkchen,
schmucklos und ohne Geruch, unschuldig, - weiter sonst nichts? -

Nelke, du reizendes Kind, wie hast du so gar nichts Bescheidnes!
Jauchzende Farben voll Lust flammst du ins traurige Grün,

Tief von den eigenen Düften du selber lustig berauschet,
spiele denn, brenne, von dir laß ich berauschen mich gern!
