Spätsommer
Language: German (Deutsch)
Hellster, grellster Sommertag,
Sonnenglutdurchschwelte Luft,
Schwüler, schwerer Blumenduft,
Müd verhaltener Finkenschlag
Satte Reife weit und breit,
Leis schon übergilbt der Wald;
Bunt in Herbst verraschelt bald
Sommertraumstrosteinsamkeit.
Confirmed with Otto Julius Bierbaum, Der neubestellte Irrgarten der Liebe, um etliche Gaenge und Lauben vermehrt verliebte, launenhafte, moralische, und andere Lieder, Gedichte u. Sprueche aus den Jahren 1885 bis 1905, Insel-Verlag, 1910

Late summer
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Brightest, most blinding summer day,
Air smouldering with the blaze of the sun,
Humid, heavy scent of flowers,
Weary, muted songs of the finches.
Replete ripeness far and wide,
The forest already gently yellowed;
Colourfully in autumn soon shall be soughed away
The solitude of summer-dream comfort.
