by Oscar von Redwitz-Schmölz (1823 - 1891)

Du sollst dieß Ringlein tragen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du sollst dieß Ringlein tragen
Zum Pfand, daß ich dich lieb';
Mein Herz soll nimmer sagen:
Den Ring mir wiedergieb!

Und willst auch du mir wahren
Dein Herz in treuer Wacht,
Dann sollst du einst erfahren,
Wie Treue glücklich macht.

[Doch]1 wenn im Streit ich bliebe,
Zerspring' des Ringleins Gold;
Dann denk' in frommer Liebe,
Daß Gott es so gewollt.

Ob's Ringlein auch zerspringet,
Verzage darum nicht!
Der Himmel wieder schlinget,
Was auf der Erde bricht!
