Als ich gestern kam vorüber
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Als ich gestern kam vorüber,
Blies in's Horn ein neues Lied;
Sah im Fenster ihrer Kammer
Eine Ros ich aufgeblüht.

  Hat die Rose sie zum Zeichen
Ihrer Lieb' für mich erdacht?
Oder hat die Rose jemand
Anderer ihr gebracht?

  Lässig, nicht des Wildes achtend,
Streif' im Wald' ich her und hin --
Ach die Rose will mir nimmer
     Aus dem Sinn!

When I came by yesterday
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
When I came by yesterday,
Blowing a new song into my horn;
I saw in the window of her chamber
A rose, freshly opened.

  Did she decide to place the rose
As a sign of her love for me?
Or did someone else
Bring her the rose?

  Languidly, not noticing the game [I should be hunting],
I wander back and forth in the forest --
Ah, I cannot ever get the rose
     Out of my mind!
