Was ist es, das so traurig klingt,
in leisen Tönen, freudeleer?
Es ist ein Lied, das ach! dir bringt
die letzten Grüße abschiedsschwer.

Leb wohl! Leb wohl! Es winkt das Glück
mit gold'nen Gaben dich heran.
Schau' einmal sinnend noch zurück,
und dann mit frischem Mut voran!

Gar mancher Lorbeer grüne dir,
der Arbeit Preis im Siegeslauf!
Aus treuen Herzen rufen wir
dir alle zu: Glück auf! Glück auf!

Què és el que tan tristament ressona
en tons suaus, mancats de joia?
És una cançó que, Ai! Et porten
les darreres i penoses salutacions de comiat.

Adéu! Adéu! La felicitat et fa signes
amb daurades ofrenes.
Mira encara una vegada pensarós cap enrere
i després amb un nou coratge cap endavant!

Que nombrosos llorers et guardonin,
el premi de l’esforç en la cursa a la victòria!
Des dels nostres cors fidels et cridem
tots nosaltres: Bona sort! Bona sort!
