 Sie trüben nur den frohen Blick!
 Senkt euren Flug zur Erde wieder,
 Kehrt zu den Lebenden zurück!

 Zu Sang und Spiel sind wir vereint,
 Vom Hauch des Grabes keine Spur!
 Die Wahrheit, die ihr meinet, 
 Lebt ja in eurem Liede nur!

 Auf! singet schöner Thaten Lohn,
 Wie's edlen Barden ziemt!
 Ein Lied, das Mannestugend preist,
 das Vaterland uns rühmt!

 Der Männer Preis, der Helden Ruhm,
 Der Krieger Schlachtgesang:
 Das ist wahre Sängerthum,

cap indici de l’hàlit de la tomba!
La realitat a la que us referiu,
viu només en les vostres cançons!

Au! Canteu del premi a les bones accions,
com s’escau als nobles bards!
Una cançó que enalteix la virtut dels homes
ens glorifica la pàtria!

Cor:
El valor dels homes, la glòria dels herois,
el cant de batalla dels guerrers:
aquest és el veritable domini dels cantaires,
aquest és l’autèntic cant!
