kühles Quellchen, herzlich dir!
und so mancher Schmerz entsank
und bei deinem Labetrank.
Ohne Rast und ohne Ruh'
eilst du ferner Gegend zu,
nichts, ach! unterm Monde weilt,
auch die Jugendlust enteilt.

listen! we sing a little song,
and it is for you, o spring.
With much joy, we thank you,
cool little spring, heartily!
for many a pain is relieved
by your refreshing waters.
Without rest and without peace
you hasten to far places,
ah, nothing abides under the moon:
the joys of youth also fade.
