by Peter Cornelius (1824 - 1874)

Ich weil' in tiefer Einsamkeit
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich weil' in tiefer Einsamkeit,
Wo fern der Lärm der Welt verrauscht,
Wo meinem Lied vergang'ner Zeit
Der träumerische Wald nur lauscht.

Da wird Erinnerung wieder wach
An Bilder, die ich einst geschaut,
Verklung'ne Worte tönen nach
Und werden neu im Herzen laut.

Da nahst auch du und lächelst mild
Und redest Worte wie Gesang;
Ich grüße dich, du [lieblich]1 Bild!
Ich grüße dich mit Liederklang.

Und wenn mein Lied zur Ferne dringt,
Und wenn dein Hauch ihm Leben leiht,
O denke mein, der dir es singt
In tiefer stiller Einsamkeit.
