by Friedrich Rückert (1788 - 1866)

Der Ungeliebte
Language: German (Deutsch)
Fänd ich doch auf ird'scher Flur
Fänd ich doch die Liebe nur,
die ich liebend denke,
dass in sie der irre Geist,
der sich wild durch Welten reist,
liebevoll versänke.

Oder nur ein teures Bild,
das aus Himmelschönen mild
mir sich nieder neigte,
auf der Pfad von ihm erhellt
aufwärts aus der dunklen Welt
meinen Flug mir zeigte.

Confirmed with Rückerts Werke herausgegeben von Georg Ellinger. Leipzig und Wien: Bibliographisches Institut, 1897. Erster Band: page 354.
