Nu sænker sig vårens svangrende luft

Nu sænker sig vårens svangrende luft,
og knopperne briste, og blomsten får duft,
og bølgen som længe smægted i tvang,
går atter sin blinkende gang,
i dunkle lund,
i dæmrende stund,
bag løv, som skærmer
en nattergal sværmer,
og tonerne synke dybt i mit bryst
som suk, som savn, som smeltende  lyst!

Nu gløder i rosen Eros sin pil
og svinger sin bue med trods og med smil,
han stiger fra jord som kvidrende fugl
og spejder bag skyen, bag skyen i skjul:
O vogt nu tro
dit hjertes ro!
Hans pil er båren
af duften i våren,
den træffer som lyn og fylder dit bryst
med suk, med savn, med smeltende  lyst!
