Der Mai kommt als Freier, Den Strauß in der Hand, Im bräutlichen Schleier Begrüßt ihn das Land. Er hat uns gedungen Zu Spiel und Zu Tanz, Drum schmückt euch ihr Zungen Mit Strauß und mit Kranz! Es fliegen die Zöpfchen, Es flattert das Band, Was hast du dein Köpfchen So scheusam gewandt? Dem Mündlein, dem rothen, Ein Kuß wird geraubt. Der Pfarr hat's verboten, Der Mai hat's erlaubt.
