by Karl Stieler (1842 - 1885)

Durch die öde Nordlandhaide
Language: German (Deutsch)
Durch die öde Nordlandhaide
Reit ich hin [im müden]1 Schritt;
Ohne Ende, ohne Freude,
Schweigend zieht mein Knappe mit.

Kein Geläute darf ich hören,
Keine Saaten schaun ringsum;
Hier und dort nur niedre Föhren,
Erd' und Himmel -- alles stumm!

Kein Gebäu, kein Fels, kein Hügel,
[Nur der kühle]2 Haideduft!
Eine Mühle dehnt die Flügel
[Fernhin in der leeren]3 Luft.

Also bin ich hingezogen,
Müd' die Seele und die Hand;
Herzdurchwogt -- ich kenn' dies Wogen --
Heimweh heißt's im deutschen Land.
