by Johanna Voigt (1854 - 1939), as Johanna Ambrosius

Mich friert
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mich friert im heißen Sonnenbrand
Bei aller Blütenpracht,
Seit eine grausame kalte Hand
Mir einen Trunk gebracht.

Mich friert am heißen Flammenherd,
Den wilde Glut durchwallt,
Ob auch das Feuer ewig währt,
Mir ist doch ewig kalt.

Und wenn ihr Sonn- und Feuersglut
Bis an den Himmel schürt,
Bleibt doch zu Eis erstarrt mein Blut,
Mein Herz ist tot -- mich friert.
