I drömmen du är mig nära
Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
I drömmen du är mig nära,
jag nämner hänryckt ditt namn.
Jag sluter dig ömt, du kära
ut i min längtande famn.

Av stormande fröjd betagen
jag känner mig då ha makt
att säga dig allt, som dagen
i tystnadens bojor lagt.

Min innersta tanke jag röjer,
jag ser i ditt öga in;
din barm invid min sig höjer,
jag söker din mun med min.

O skall, förrän livet förrunnit,
den saliga stund ej slå,
skall högsta lycka, jag funnit,
mig endast i drömmen nå?

In dreams you are near me
Language: English  after the Swedish (Svenska)
In dreams you are near me,
I call your name in rapture.
I enclose you tenderly, beloved,
in my longing lap.

Overcome with stormy delight
there I have the power
to tell you everything, as the day
lies shackled in the silence.

I reveal the thoughts of my heart,
I look into your eyes;
your breast rises to mine,
I search for your mouth with mine.

Shall I, before life fades away,
not experience that sacred moment,
shall I find that highest bliss,
or attain it only in dreams?
