Denn heilig ist das Wort und wundervoll!
In meines Herzens Tempel will ich's tragen,
Daß es als Licht am Altar leuchten soll!

Sein Glanz soll nimmer einem Fremden blinken,
Und daß es brennt, kund soll es keinem sein.
Nur mir, bis hin an meiner Tage Sinken,
Leuchte gedämpft sein friedesamer Schein!

Nur mir, indes ich hoffe, leide, handle,
Mir sei bewußt, was du mir bist und gibst,
Mir leuchte, weil ich meine Straße wandle,
Das wundervolle Wort, daß du mich liebst!
