Me minavit, et adduxit in tenebras, 
et non in lucem.
Tantum in me vertit 
et convertit manum suam tota die.

Beth. Vetustam fecit pellem meam 
et carnem meam, contrivit ossa mea.
Aedificavit in gyro meo, 
et circumdedit me felle et labore.
In tenebrosis collocavit me, 
quasi mortuos sempiternos.

Ghimel. Circumaedificavit adversum me, 
ut non egrediar; aggravavit compedem meum.
Sed et cum clamavero, et rogavero, 
exclusit orationem meam.
Conclusit vias meas lapidibus quadris,
semitas meas subvertit.

Troisième leçon de ténèbres du Jeudi saint
Language: French (Français)  after the Latin 
Aleph. Je suis l'homme qui a vu la misère 
sous la verge de son indignation.
Il m'a poussé devant lui et conduit dans les ténèbres, 
et pas dans la lumière.
Il a tant contre moi tourné 
et retourné sa main tout le jour.

Beth. Il a rendu ma peau vieille 
et ma chair, il a broyé mes os.
Il a construit autour de moi, 
et il m'a entouré de fiel et de fatigue.
Dans les ténèbres il m'a placé, 
comme des morts éternels.

Ghimel. Il m'a entouré de constructions 
pour que je ne sorte pas ; il a alourdi mes entraves.
Mais quand je crie et j'appelle,
il repousse ma prière.
Il ferme mon chemin, avec des pierres de taille,
il détruit mon chemin.
