Celle que j'aime a des yeux de vierge
De l'or qui dort, de l'ombre qui luit :
On croirait la flamme d'un cierge
Dans la chapelle où tremble la nuit ;
On croirait voir un vitrail mystique
Où l'aube chaste allume des fleurs,
Et qui promène aux murs du portique
Sa mosaïque aux fines couleurs.
Son regard d'ange éclaire les choses
D'une lueur qui les fait aimer :
L'air qu'il caresse est peuplée de roses
Où mon amour vient se parfumer.
Lorsqu'un reflet de sa longue flamme
Daigne effleurer mon front abattu,
Je sens frémir au fond de mon âme
De la lumière et de la vertu.
