Wieder hab ich dich gesehen, Blasse Malve! blühst du schon? Ja! mich traf ein schaurig Wehen, All mein Frühling welkt davon. Bist du doch des Herbstes Rose, Der gesunknen Sonne Kind, Bist die starre, düftelose, Deren Blüten keine sind. Gerne wollt' ich dich begrüßen, Blühtest du nicht rosenfarb, Lögst du nicht das Rot der Süßen, Die noch eben glüht' und starb. Heuchle nicht des Lenzes Dauer! Du bedarfst des Scheines nicht; Hast ja schöne, dunkle Trauer, Hast ja weißes, sanftes Licht.
