Du sagtest: Ja! -- ich liebe dich!--
  Kam dir's vom Herzen?--
 
Ich hauchte da den ersten Kuß
  Auf deine blühenden Lippen;
Sie zitterten bei diesem Gruß --
  Kam das vom Herzen? --
 
In deine Wangen stieg die Gluth!
  Von Purpur übergossen
Schaltst du den allzufrevlen Muth --
  Kam dirs [sic] vom Herzen? --
 
Und freudiger umfaßt' ich dich
  Im süßen Liebessturme!
Da grolltest du -- da flohst du mich! --
  Kam dir's vom Herzen? -- --
