Scherzo
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Una notte, al davanzale,
Ero sola, o pur non ero?
Ben mi parve un soffio d'ale
Che giungesse dal sentiero
Chi la guancia mi sfiorò?
Se fu un bacio io non lo so.
Fu la tenda, è ver, rammento,
Che la guancia mi percosse:
La carezza fu del vento,
Pur vorrei che non lo fosse...
Più ci penso e più rammento
Che fu un bacio e non il vento!

Joke
Language: English  after the Italian (Italiano)
One night, on the windowsill,
I was alone, or wasn't I?
Well it seems to me that it was a breath of air
That came from the pathway
And who brushed against my cheek?
If it was a kiss I don't know.
it was the curtain, it's true, I remember
that blew against my cheek:
the caress was from the wind,
Sure, I wish that it wasn't so...
The more I think, and the more I remember
It was a kiss and not the wind!
