Was ist Das für ein Düften Die blühende Welt entlang! Es jubelt in den Lüften Wie Nachtigallensang; Die rothen Rosen glühen Hoch steht der Lilien Pracht, Und ihre Kelche sprühen Und leuchten durch die Nacht. Ihr schlagenden Nachtigallen, Du blühender Lindenbaum, Was soll dies Wogen und Wallen? Ich wandle wie im Traum. Von allen Zweigen bebt es, Als ob es Funken thaut, Um meine Lippen schwebt es Wie Kuß vom Mund der Braut. O wol, das ist die Stunde, Wo Lieb' an Lieb' sich schmiegt, Indessen tief im Grunde Die Welt in Schlummer liegt; Nun schlafen alle Schmerzen In treuen Armen ein, Nun lernen junge Herzen, Wie süß es ist zu Zwei'n. O komm herab, du Holde, Der meine Seele brennt! Schon steht im Abendgolde Das nächt'ge Firmament; Rosen und Lilien blühen Die düftende Welt entlang, Und meine Lippen sprühen Von Küssen und Gesang!
