by Julius Schanz (1828 - 1902)

Der Flüchtling
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mutter, ich komme durch Nacht und Graus,
Verfolgt und flüchtig zum Vaterhaus.

Mutter, ich komme durch Schnee und Wind --
Dein unglückselig verlorenes Kind.

Mutter, ich komme -- laß rnhn mich aus
Nur eine Stunde im Vaterhaus.

Die Häscher folgen, muß weiter fliehn,
Meine Füße bluten, meine Schläfe glühn.

An deinem Herzen einen Augenblick,
Dann ruft mich weiter mein Geschick.

Einen Tropfen Wasser, einen Kuß, eh' ich geh!
Auf ewig, Mutter, ade, ade!
