by Edmund Höfer (1819 - 1882)

Ich sitz am einsamen Strande
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich sitz am einsamen Strande,
Grau kommt der Abend daher,
Grau ruht und unabsehbar,
Öde vor mir das Meer.

Es streicht eine Möve droben
Dahin mit klagendem Schrei,
Und einsam kommt sie geflogen
Und einsam fliegt sie vorbei.

Es dunkelt still auf den Wellen,
Es dunkelt still in der Höh'.
Der Vogel fliegt weiter und weiter,
Hinaus in die Nacht und die See.
