Bereukwerkt en berijkdomd door
uw geurig rankgewas,
vol blauw-halfwitte blommen en
vol blaren, groene als gras,
is 't 's zomers mij onzeglijk, hoe 't
mij deugd doet u te zien,
bezocht van de edele zonne en van
de nooit vernoegde bien.
Des avonds, als 't al stille is, en
de vogels slapen gaan,
daar zou 'k een ure droomend en
u wakend blijven staan;
dan zwelge ik in mijn' longeren uw'
zoo fijn gekruide locht,
en ééne is ons de zoetheid van
den zelfsten asemtocht.
Des nuchtens geeft de zonne, eer ze al
heur' krachten daveren doet,
u, luchtige glycine, en mij,
den eersten morgengroet;
en 's middags ben ik blij nog, in
't geheugen van de pracht
des morgens, en in 't langen naar
de zoetheid van den nacht.
