Dapper strijen de musschen tusschen
't hout, dat op de boomen staat;
eer ze, legschgezinden, vinden
elke mussche heur' medemaat.
 
Neerstig dan aan 't nesten vesten
zijn ze, en, met hun' vogeltee'n,
doen ze haarkes, hooikes, strooikes
tot een keurig nestje ineen.
 
't Wiegske klaar, zoo vallen ze allen
stille; en, na geen lang verbei,
thuisgebrocht van aver taver,
ligt in elken nest een ei.
 
Nog een, nog een, nog een ... och een
musschennest halfvol, zoo 'k zie;
en, dat worden musschen, tusschen
hier en nog een' weke of drie.
