Gaude Virgo Mater Christi
Language: Latin
Our translations:  ENG
Gaude Virgo Mater Christi
Quae per aurem concepisti
Gabriele nuntio.

Gaude quia Deo plena
Peperisti sine poena
Cum pudoris lilio.

Gaude quia tui nati
Quem dolebat mortem pati
Fulgeret resurrectio.

Gaude Christo ascendente
Et in coelum te vidente
Motu fertur proprio.

Gaude quae post ipsum scandis
Et est honor tibi grandis
In coeli palatio

Ubi fructus ventris tui
Per te detur nobis frui
In perenni gaudio.
Alleluia.

Rejoice, virgin mother of Christ
Language: English  after the Latin
Rejoice, virgin mother of Christ,
Who conceived through your ear
At Gabriel's announcing.

Rejoice because, filled with God,
You gave birth without pain
With the lily of modesty.

Rejoice because the resurrection
Of your son will be glorious,
He whom you grieved as he suffered death.

Rejoice in Christ ascending,
And that he is carried by his own action
To heaven, with you watching.

Rejoice, you who ascend after him,
For you there is great honour
In the palace of heaven.

There [we pray that] the fruit of your womb
May be given us, through you, to enjoy
In eternal praise.
Alleluia.
