by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)

Ontferme 't U
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Ontferme 't U, o Heere en God,
ontferme 't aller lieden,
die, deerlijk onindachtig, U
geen' schuldige eere en bieden!

Ze dwazen en ze dolen, al
zoo zeer als zij, de snooden,
die, roekeloos, - ontferme 't U -
hun eigen leven dooden.

Het licht zijt Gij, het leven en
't bestaan van al. - De logen
alleen kan naar het onbestaan
des Albestaanden pogen!
