by Anonymous / Unidentified Author and sometimes misattributed to Heinrich Heine (1797 - 1856)

Einsamkeit

Note: the Musikalien-catalog von Heinrichshofen's Verlag in Magdeburg indicates Heine as the author of this text as set by Graben-Hoffmann, but no text containing the incipit can be found. The Graben-Hoffmann song does not appear in Metzner, Günter's Heine in der Musik : Bibliographie der Heine-Vertonungen. The attribution to Heine may have come about because of a misnumbering: the Kistner (Leipzig) catalogue of 1894 indicates op. 1 no. 2 as "Traumbild: "Mir träumte, traurig schaute der Mond", but it is in fact number 6 of the opus (often titled "An Sie").
