by Lydia Hecker, née Paalzow (b. 1802)

Lied der Erdgeister
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wir [wohnen]1 im Kühlen
Hier unten und spielen
Mit blankem Metall,
Und hören das Rauschen
Der Wasser und lauschen
Dem lieblichen Schall.

Und funkelnde Hallen
Von Strahlenkrystallen
Stehn rund um uns her;
Die Früchte, die Blüthen
Wohl nimmer so glühten
Dem Menschenverkehr.

Sie ängsten, sie sorgen
Für heut und für morgen
Mit trauriger Hast;
Wir ruhten und schliefen
Und haben in Tiefen
Das Leben erfaßt.
