timerne trille
lydløse ned i det evige væld. 
Kun mine tanker
lyttende vanker, -
vil hun ej komme i kvæld,

Vinteren drømmer,
stjernerne svømmer
gennem dens florlette syner og ler,
nævnende sommer,
elskov og blommer, -
tør hun ej møde mig mer,
- ej møde mig mer? 

Havet, med panden
is-lagt mod stranden,
sukker i længsel og rejsesyg ro. 
Skibe for anker,
sejlfyldte tanker, -
o, vi må findes, vi to,
- må findes, vi to! 

Sneen har dalet,
tumlet og malet
eventyr-let i den skog-dunkle hej. 
Dyrene lister,
slagskygger frister:
var det dit fodtrin, o nej,
- dit fodtrin, o nej! 

Modet du savner,
rimfrosten favner
længselens grene, fortryllet du står. 
Men jeg tør sprænge

les heures s'écoulent
sans bruit dans un puits éternel.
Seules mes pensées
errent, prêtant l'oreille,
Ne va -t-elle pas venir ce soir,

L'hiver rêve,
les étoiles flottent
à travers un voile elles semblent rire,
appelant été,
amour et fleurs,
osera-telle ne plus me rencontrer,
ne plus me rencontrer ?

La mer, avec son front
couvert de glace sur la plage
soupire de langueur et repose de ses voyages.
Des bateaux à l'ancre,
voiles affalées, songent,
ô puissions-nous être ensemble, tous deux,
puissions-nous être ensemble, tous deux !

La neige est tombée,
a tourbillonné et peint
une image fantastique, là-bas dans le bois noir.
Des animaux se faufilent,
des espèces d'ombres s'agitent.
