In Deine weiße Hand gelegt,
Da zuckten Deine Lippen leise --
Ich sah es wohl, Du warst bewegt.

Zu Deinen Füßen warf mich nieder
Ein unaussprechlich weher Schmerz;
Du wandtest Dich und preßtest heftig
Die Rose an Dein klopfend Herz.

Und gabst zum Abschied mir noch ein Mal
Die bleiche Hand, die, goldbereift,
Von meines Lebens Baum die Blüthen
Nun alle, alle abgestreift. --
