by (Christian) Friedrich Hebbel (1813 - 1863)

Nachtgefühl
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenn ich mich abends entkleide,
    Gemachsam, Stück für Stück,
So tragen die müden Gedanken
    Mich vorwärts oder zurück.

Ich denke der alten Tage,
    Da zog die Mutter mich aus;
Sie legte mich still in die Wiege,
    Die Winde brausten ums Haus.

Ich denke der letzten Stunde,
    Da werden's die Nachbarn tun;
Sie senken mich still in die Erde,
    Dann werd ich lange ruhn.

Schließt nun der Schlaf mein Auge,
    Wie träum ich so oftmals das:
Es wäre eins von beidem,
    Nur wüßt' ich selber nicht, was.
