Inschrift auf einem Stein der Burg Weinsberg

Auf einem Stein der Burg der Weibertreue
Schrieb einer (wohl in seines Herzens Reue):
"Getragen hat mein Weib mich nicht,
Aber ertragen!
Das war ein schwereres Gewicht,
Als ich mag sagen."
Jedwedem fällt der Stein dort ins Gesicht,
Die Männer schnell an ihm vorübergehn,
Die Frauen aber bleiben bei ihm stehn.

Inscription upon a stone in the Castle of Weinsberg
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Upon a stone of the Castle Weibertreu Wifely Faithfulness
A man wrote (likely with remorse in his heart):
"My wife did not carry me,
But she put up with me!
That was a heavier load
Than I can describe."
Everyone who comes to the castle sees the stone.
The men walk past it quickly;
The women, however, remain standing before it.
