You can help us modernize! The present website has been online for a very long time and we want to bring it up to date. As of May 6, we are $2,380 away from our goal of $15,000 to fund the project. The fully redesigned site will be better for mobile, easier to read and navigate, and ready for the next decade. Please give today to join dozens of other supporters in making this important overhaul possible!

Der Spielmann

Daß keinen der Wahnsinn übermannt;
Bin selber ein armer Musikant.

Hoj, v městečku veselo, hlučno dnes

Language: Czech (Čeština) after the German (Deutsch)

Hoj, v městečku veselo, hlučno dnes,
tam svatba je, tanec a zpěv a ples;
všem přitomým rudne již z vína líc,
chot' slíčná bledne však víc a víc.

Ba, bledne, neb tu milence má,
jenž láskou vroucí dosud kní plá;
tam státi ho vidí, kde hostí je shluk,
on z houslí tam loudí veselý zvuk!

Hrá prudčej'a šediví jeho vlas,
a struny ted' hrozný dávají hlas;
ted' přistiskl housle na ňadro své,
jak kdyby chtěl na prach rozdrtit je.

Jest hrozno člověku takto již mřít,
kdy mlád jsa, chtěl by vradostech žít,
já nechci déle, nechci to zřít,
neb musil bych z toho šílený být.

Proč terčem všech zraků býti já mám?
O Bože, milostiv bud' nam,
by nebyl z nás nikdo pomaten!
zde chudý já hudebník jsem jen.
