Sagt mir, o schönste Schäf'rin mein, der Augen edle Zier! Darf ich bei euch nicht kehren ein als ein getreuer Hirt? Ich steh schon lang vor eurer Tür, o Schäferin eröffnet mir die Pfort, die Pfort, die Pfort. "Wer da? wer klopft vor meiner Tür und will zu mir herein? Mein Hüttlein ich eröffne nicht, ich lasse niemand ein, und wenn er auch der Schönste wär, so macht er mir mein Herz nicht schwer. Umsonst! Umsonst! Umsonst!" Die finstre Nacht hat mich verführt in'n Wald, mein trautes Kind! Drum bitt ich, schlagts euch aus dem Sinn und macht mir auf geschwind; ich hab mich allzeit aufgeführt, Wies einem treuen Hirt'n gebührt, Allzeit, allzeit, allzeit. "So will ich aus Erbarmen dann erhören deine Bitt, die Pforte stehet offen schon, komm nur in meine Hütt.'' Ach Schatz, wie seh ich euch hier stehn? Al lang zie ik jouw deur vóór mij, O herderin, doe open, jij, De poort, de poort, de poort. “Wie daar? Wie klopt er aan mijn deur En wil hier komen in? Mijn hutje maak ik open niet, Ik laat er niemand in, En zelfs als hij de knapste was, Bracht hij mijn hart niet uit de pas. Vergeefs, vergeefs, vergeefs!” De donk’re nacht heeft mij misleid Naar ’n bos, mijn lieve kind!
