Durch schwankende Wipfel

Language: German (Deutsch)

Durch schwankende Wipfel
Schießt [güldner]1 Strahl,
Tief unter den Gipfeln
Das [neblige]2 Tal.
[Fern hallt es am Schlosse,]3
Das Waldhorn ruft,
Es wiehern die Rosse
In die Luft, in die Luft!

Bald Länder und Seen
[Durch]4 Wolkenzug
Tief schimmernd zu sehen
In schwindelndem Flug,
Bald Dunkel wieder
Hüllt Reiter und Roß,
O Lieb', o Liebe
[So]5 laß mich los! -

Immer weiter und weiter
Die Klänge ziehn,
Durch Wälder und Heiden
Wohin, ach wohin?
Erquickliche Frische,
Süß-schaurige Lust!
Hoch flattern die Büsche,
Frei schlägt die Brust.

Door wuivende kruinen

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Door wuivende kruinen
Een lichtaanval,
Diep onder de toppen
Ligt neev’lig het dal.
Bij ’t slot klinkt een echo,
De waldhoorn tuit,
De paarden, zij hinn’ken.
Een geluid, een geluid!

Nu akkers en meren,
Door1 wolkenlucht,
Diep schitt’rend zichtbaar
In duiz’lende vlucht.
Dan komt weer ‘t donker,
Hult ruiter en ros,
O liefde, liefde,
O maak mij los!

Al maar verder en verder
Gaan klanken daar,
Door wouden en heiden,
Naar waar, ach, naar waar?
Verkwikkende koelte,
Zoet-griez’lig genot!
Hoog waaien de bossen,
’t Hart voelt zich god.
