Und ach nur sehn und lieben dich.

Mein Herz den Banden will enteilen,
Mein Auge möcht' an deinem weilen,
Und Herz und Aug' ergießen sich;

As if my heart wishes to utter a lament to you;
My deepest spirit is moved,
I love you with every impulse.

It seems to me that I should undertake a journey to you,
To fall at your feet like a pilgrim,
To heal myself from many an impulse,
And ah, only to see and to love you.

My heart wishes to flee its bonds,
My eyes wish to dwell upon yours,
And heart and eyes overflow;
With many tears I love you.
