Jag ser vad du tänker vid stranden
med blicken bland böljorna sänkt.
Du glömmer att torka från handen
små pärlor de dansande stänkt.

Du suckar och mulnar i hågen
vid tanken att allting förgår.
Men vem vill för höst väl beskylla
naturen, vem tänker därpå,
när solstrålar allting förgylla
och himlen är bländande blå?

Nu ler du och rodnar, o flicka!
Se åter bland böljorna ner.
Om så du blott alltid vill blicka,
så svär jag, du åldras ej mer!
