Süss Liebchen, merkt es dein Herz denn nicht,
Dass ich entgegen dir wandre?
Fliegt nicht und leuchtet dir über's Gesicht
Ein Lächeln über das andre?
Reisst's dich nicht fort aus dem engen Haus
Mit Gewalt und ohne Maasse?
Und sendest du nicht die Aeuglein aus
Nach dem wirbelnden Staube der Strasse?

Gewiss, ich fühl' es mit jedem Schritt,
Den ich entgegen dir schreite,
Du machst ihn in fröhlichem Tackte mit,
Bald wandern wir Seit' an Seite.
Und richtig! dort hinter dem waldigen Eck,
Kommt Liebchen gehüpft und gesprungen
Und hält, aufjubelnd im süssesten Schreck,
Den geliebten Freund umschlungen.

Dolça estimada, no s’adona el teu cor
que jo vinc al teu encontre?
No voleteja al teu rostre i l’il·lumina,
un somriure darrere un altre?
No t’arrossega fora de l’angosta casa
amb força i sense mesura?
I no gires els teus ullets defora,
vers la pols que s’arremolina al carrer?

Certament, percebo amb cada pas
que faig al teu encontre,
que tu també el fas alegrament al meu compàs,
aviat caminarem fent-nos costat.
I veritablement! Vine, estimada, allà,
darrere el racó boscós, saltironejant,
cridant d’alegria i, en dolcíssim sobresalt,
resta abraçada a l’amic estimat.
