Begegnung

Meeting
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Sweet darling, does your heart not notice
That I am wandering toward you?
Do not the smiles chase each other and flash
Across your face?
Are you not torn from out the confining house
Powerfully and without measure?
And do you not raise your eyes to watch
The swirling dust of the road?
Indeed, I feel it with every step
That I take in striding towards you,
You walk it with me in joyful measure,
Soon we'll be wandering side by side.
And truly, there behind the wooded corner,
Comes my darling skipping and leaping
And, crying out joyfully in the sweetest shock,
She holds the beloved in her embrace.
