Wie dieser Anger in erwachter Frühe,
So selbsterstaunend hell betauet sein.

Ich möchte einmal so erwärmet sein,
Wie dieser Stein in stiller Mittagssonne,
So gleich und tief und ganz erwärmet sein.

Ich möchte einmal so gestreichelt sein,
Wie dieser Baum von linden Abendwinden,
Durch so viel Blätter so gestreichelt sein.

Ich möchte einmal so getränket sein,
Wie dieses Waldtal unterm Regenbogen,
So mit geweihtem Naß getränket sein.

I would like just once to be so bedewed
as this meadow, awakening early,
so astonishingly brightly bedewed.

I would like just once to be so warmed
as this stone in the quiet midday sun,
so evenly and deeply and completely warmed.

I would like just once to be so caressed
as this tree is by gentle evening winds,
caressed through so many leaves.

I would like just once to be so saturated
as this forest glen under the rainbow,
so saturated with hallowed water.
