Der schwarze Ritter
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT ENG FRE
Ich reite stumm aus dem Turnier,
Ich trage aller Siege Namen.
Ich neige mich vor dem Balkon der Damen
Tief. Aber keine winkt mir nach.

Ich singe zu der Harfe Ton,
Aus der die tiefen Laute steigen,
Alle Harfner lauschen und schweigen,
Aber die holden Frauen sind entflohen.

In meines Wappen schwarzem Feld
Sind hundert Kränze aufgehangen,
Die gold von hundert Siegen prangen.
Aber der Kranz der Liebe fehlt.

An meinem Sarge werden sich bücken
Ritter und Sänger und werden ihn
Mit Lorbeer bedecken und bleichem Jasmin,
Aber keine Rose wird ihn schmücken.

The black knight
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Mutely I ride out of the tournament,
I bear the names of all victories.
I bow before the balcony of the ladies --
Deeply. But not one of them waves to me.

I sing to the sounds of the harp
From which the deep tones rise;
All the harpers listen and fall silent,
But the lovely ladies have departed.

In the black field of my coat of arms
There hang a hundred wreaths,
Golden they boast of a hundred victories,
But the wreath of love is missing.

At my coffin there shall bow
Knights and singers and shall
Cover it with laurel and pale jasmine,
But no rose shall adorn it.
