Le blizzard soudain me saisit de front,
Mon traîneau crisse dans sa course rapide
En face la corne blafarde
De l'Eiger émerge de nuages blêmes.
Un froid sentiment de victoire saisit
Mon cœur d'un plaisir inconnu,
Comme si je portais une précieuse charge
De fierté et de bonheur dans ma poitrine.
Ce qui dormait encore en moi de maladie,
Je le déchirai d'une main ferme
Et en riant je le lançai à pic, au fond
Dans le pays enneigé d'en bas.
