The sun is ailing, the mountains cower, A black bank of thunder clouds Is lowering with suppressed strength, Shy birds flutter low, Grey shadows upon the land. Thunder, already audible for quite some time, Begins to crash more loudly and Gloriously swells to choirs of tympani, Outdoors bright and golden as trumpets Lightning flash upon lightning flash penetrates the torrent. Rain plunges down in thick showers Glassy, cold and silvery pale, Runs in streams, rushes in rivers Wildly, like long-suppressed sobbing, Down into the startled valley.
