Mein Leben lang allein --
Im Herzen ein Sehnen und Bangen
Nach etwas Sonnenschein.

Einst strahlten wie himmlische Sonnen
Zwei Augen durch meine Nacht:
Es war ein Traum, der zerronnen --
O, wär ich nimmer erwacht.

Die Jahre kommen und schwinden;
Es soll nicht anders sein:
Ich werde wohl nimmer finden
Die Liebe, den Sonnenschein.
