Träume
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Schön wie Dein Lächeln kam die Nacht
Mit Flügeln, weich wie Deine Wangen
Und schwebte an mein Lager sacht
Und hielt mich, süß wie Du, umfangen.

Und sah mir schweigend ins Gesicht
Mit Augen dunkel wie die Deinen,
Und ließ der Träume mildes Licht
In meine müde Seele scheinen.

Und meine Seele schloß sich zu
Wie eine Ros' im Mondesschimmer -
Ob es die Nacht war oder Du,
Die mich geküßt - ich weiß es nimmer ...

Dreams
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Night, as beautiful as your smile, came
with wings as soft as your cheeks
and hovered by my bed quietly
and held me as sweetly as you do in an embrace.

And looked silently into my face
with eyes as dark as yours
and let the mild light of dreams
shine into my weary soul.

And my soul closed itself
as a rose does in moonlight –
whether it was the night or you
that kissed me – I no longer know...
