Die Busserln
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
es macht ein'n so lustig, es hebt ein'n das Blut;
Den dritten, den wollt' ich um keinen Preis geb'n;
Beim vierten und fünften, da war ich's schon g'wöhnt;

The Kiss
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I don't know why, but a kiss has such a good taste,
it makes one merry, it warms the blood;
it's not made from sugar, so much we know for certain,
but it tastes exactly as sweet as raisins.
I was just eighteen years of age -
no, if I think of it, I was only sixteen then -
a man stole the first kiss from me;
I wept and treaded on his foot!
A year later I got one from a friend,
and then I didn't weep any more,
I only felt ashamed, I must confess,
because our neighbour saw it from her window.
The third one I didn't want to give at any price;
he kissed me all right - but he missed each time!
I said: "I'll shout, if you don't hold peace!"
Well, I said it - but shout for sure I did not!
When the fourth and the fifth came, I was already accustomed to it,
and to say the truth, for the sixth one I was longing already.
Therefore I say openly, because it's no use to pretend:
As you see me right now, 't were impossible to count them.
